They sure as hell weren’t about to tell you what they were really thinking. Or give you even a wince or a grimace that might hint at what they knew was the truth. And what they knew was the truth about what their boss (who is also Musk’s enabler-in-chief) knew was the truth (despite what he was repeatedly asserting!).
