Don’t tar all cops with the same brush

Comm Zamri: ‘Don’t let a few bad apples cause the police force to be ridiculed unjustly.’ — CHAN TAK KONG/The Star

AFTER almost three years at the helm of the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) of the Royal Malaysia Police, Comm Datuk Zamri Yahya feels he made headway in prioritising integrity and quality service among the men and women in blue.

On Wednesday, he officially left the department to take up his new appointment as director of the Special Branch. Speaking to Sunday Star, though, it’s obvious that he feels strongly about JIPS and improving the image of the Royal Malaysia Police. Here he shares how he did during his time at JIPS, how he sees the role of the police, and why the public needs to be aware that a few bad apples don’t spoil the bunch.
