FIVE students from Mara Junior Science Colleges (MRSM) are ranked among the top Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2025 achievers nationwide, with a total of 80 scoring As in all their subjects – an increase from 69 in 2024.

While the latest SPM results have brought great pride to the institution, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki reminded its students not to rest on their laurels despite the exemplary performance.

All candidates qualified for the SPM certificate, with 19 colleges recording a National Average Grade (GPN) of below 2.0, he said, adding that 100% of its colleges achieved a GPN of at least 2.067. A lower GPN score indicates better overall performance.

“We mustn’t be egotistical, arrogant or complacent; we must always stay grounded.

“As our Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi often says, to maintain excellence is a greater challenge,” he said at the closing ceremony of the Mara International Education Conference (MIEC) 2026.

The biannual conference was held from April 6 to 8 in conjunction with Mara’s 60th anniversary.

Organised by the Mara Excellence Academy, the three-day event brought together some 400 local and international education leaders, industry players and academics to enhance educational innovation, human capital development, and to share best practices in an increasingly challenging global education landscape.

The conference, held to ensure continuous improvement of the curriculum and education system at MRSM, also emphasised strengthening digital pedagogical skills, effective educational leadership, and building strategic collaboration networks between educational institutions and the industry.

“This applies not only to the quality of the curriculum, but also to all aspects of management aimed at excellence and student development,” said Asyraf Wajdi.

On a separate matter, he assured parents that if conflict in the Middle East escalates, Mara is ready to bring those studying in the region and its surrounding regions home.

“Don’t worry as our officers stationed in these countries are closely monitoring the safety and well-being of students.

“We are always on alert and vigilant. That’s why we are in close contact with Wisma Putra.

“We have evacuation plans ready, which we will coordinate with Wisma Putra (if needed),” he said, adding that Mara also has students in Georgia and Egypt.
