To support the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Hospital Patient Welfare Fund, renowned abstract artist Master Richard Wong showcased 130 original paintings at his solo Silk Road Dunhuang Charity Art Exhibition.

Held from July 24 to 25 at the varsity’s Sungai Long Campus, the exhibition aimed to raise funds through art while inspiring compassion and generosity.

Drawing inspiration from his personal journey along the cultural landscapes of Dunhuang and the Silk Road, Wong’s artworks reflect deep reflections on peace, humanity and vitality.

Proceeds from the sale of the artworks were donated to the UTAR Hospital Patient Welfare Fund, which supports patients in need of medical treatment, rehabilitation, and essential healthcare services.

Thanking Wong, UTAR president Prof Datuk Dr Ewe Hong Tat said as a not-for-profit institution, the UTAR Hospital is committed to providing good, affordable medical services to everyone, especially those who cannot afford private treatment.

“Wong’s kindness helps us do more for people in need,” he said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
