Education Ministry to distribute free Jalur Gemilang badges to students

PETALING JAYA: Each student will receive two free Jalur Gemilang badges to be worn on their school uniforms, says the Education Ministry.

In a statement released on Thursday (March 27), the ministry said it would give each student two free badges for the 2025/2026 school session.

This follows its announcement that it would implement the wearing of the Jalur Gemilang badge on students' uniforms in educational institutions under its administration, effective in stages from April 21.

“This initiative, which involves all government schools, government-aided schools, Matriculation Colleges, and Teacher Education Institutes in Malaysia, aims to instil patriotism and a love for the country among students and educators,” it stated in the release.

The ministry added that it has also prepared guidelines for wearing the Jalur Gemilang badge, which are included with Circular Letter No. 3/2025 as a reference for the proper procedure.

This initiative aligns with the role of educational institutions in fostering national pride and nurturing patriotism among the younger generation, it said.
