Public varsity appointments

Prof Datuk Dr Razli Che Razak will serve as Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) vice-chancellor until Nov 23 next year.

His reappointment, which took effect on Nov 24, is for a one-year term.

Prof Razli, who holds a doctorate in the field of operations management from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), was first appointed vice-chancellor on March 1, 2022.

The Higher Education Ministry, in a recent press release, said the reappointment was to enable Prof Razli to continue planning and implementing initiatives to develop UMK into a university known for entrepreneurship and enterprise education.

“The ministry is confident that Prof Razli will be able to empower and groom holistic talents with entrepreneurial skills to ensure that the country’s economy is strong and competitive,” its statement read.

The ministry also announced that USM health campus director Prof Dr Shaharum Shamsuddin has been appointed the varsity’s deputy vice chancellor for student affairs, while Universiti Malaya engineering faculty dean Prof Dr Kaharuddin Dimyati has been made deputy vice-chancellor for research and innovation at the varsity.

Both appointments took effect on Dec 1.
