PETALING JAYA: Prof Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah (pic) has been appointed as Universiti Utara Malaysia’s (UUM) new vice-chancellor effective Monday (Jan 17).
Prof Haim Hilman, who was the deputy vice-chancellor (research and innovation) at UUM, takes over from Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani, who has led the university since 2018.
Higher Education director-general Prof Datuk Dr Husaini Omar said he believes Prof Haim Hilman will continue to lead UUM towards being a leading centre of excellence in learning and teaching, research, publication and consultancy in the field of management at home and abroad.
“As an excellent focused university that focuses on the area of management in addition to the vision of UUM as a "Leading Management University", the ministry believes that with his experience, knowledge and credibility, Prof Haim Hilman is able to shoulder the responsibility,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 19).
Prof Haim, 49, possesses a degree and masters in business administration from The University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
He also completed his PhD in strategic management from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2010.
