PETALING JAYA: Prof Dr Roziah Janor has been appointed as Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) acting vice-chancellor.
Her appointment marks the first time a woman is helming the vice-chancellor's seat in the varsity's history.
The university said she has been the acting vice-chancellor since March 19.
"We are confident that the UiTM vice-chancellor promotion interview special committee and the former higher education minister have assessed the criteria for UiTM's continuity of leadership and excellence because Prof Roziah is still serving the varsity.
"This allows UiTM to plan and execute a more effective strategy.
"We also believe that having Prof Roziah along with Tan Sri Ibrahim Shah Abu Shah as UiTM chairman will bring the varsity to a higher level," UiTM Malaysia Alumni Association Shukri Ishak said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 12).
UiTM Holdings Sdn Bhd thanked former UiTM vice-chancellor Emeritus Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim for his service.
On it's website, it said his dedication, enthusiasm, and insight are "really inspiring".
The company is a wholly-owned investment holding company of UiTM.
