Foundation awards 20 scholarships

THE Yu Cai Foundation (YCF) has given 20 deserving students from across the country the opportunity to pursue their secondary education in a Chinese independent school of their choice.

The foundation believes that education is a catalyst for change in a person’s life, said its general manager Tiong Ting Ming.

“Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. YCF is a keen believer of learning vernacular languages as it enhances cultural heritage and promotes Malaysia’s unique multilingual and multicultural education system, ” he said, adding that this would help to maximise students’ potential on a global platform.

The foundation also sponsors students from Chinese secondary schools, he said.

“This is to encourage them to continue learning vernacular languages and also to ensure competency doesn’t stay at elementary level.”

To upskill teachers’, the foundation provides training scholarships for teachers serving in Chinese independent schools.

The foundation has also collaborated with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) to offer scholarships to students keen on becoming a vernacular language teacher. To date, it has donated over RM23mil in grants, scholarships and charitable initiatives, as well as donations to improve school facilities.
