THE United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is inviting young leaders to take part in the 2018 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Academic Fellowship exchange programme opportunity.
YSEALI Academic Fellowships are intensive short-term academic institutes that aim to provide groups of young leaders with a deeper understanding of the United States on a particular theme, while simultaneously enhancing their leadership skills through a five-week international exchange experience in the US.
Open to those aged 18 to 35, the programme consists of a balanced series of seminar discussions, readings, group presentations and lectures.
The coursework and classroom activities will be complemented by educational travel, site visits, leadership activities, and volunteer opportunities within the local community.
The institutes include an academic residency component of approximately four weeks and a domestic study tour of about one week.
The fellowship will focus on three core YSEALI themes namely civic engagement; environmental issues and natural resource management and social entrepreneurship and economic development.
Those with questions can send an e-mail to KualaLumpurYSEALI@state.gov.
