THEIR vision is to produce job ready, professional market researchers upon graduation.

With this foresight, Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the Marketing Research Society of Malaysia (MRSM), making the former the first Malaysian university to establish a partnership with MRSM.

Under this collaboration, APU students from selected courses related to the market research industry are eligible to take the MRSM-APU Market Research Professional Certificate.

Besides passing the programme assessments, students are required to complete a 12-week internship to obtain the professional certificate. Successful students will also be eligible to apply for membership with MRSM.

The qualification is recognised locally and internationally.

Applauding the partnership, APU vice-chancellor Prof Ron Edwards said the collaboration will assist graduates to be work ready and have the standard of proficiency and ethics that the industry seeks.

MRSM president Kalavalli Sethu said: “APU-MRSM collaboration is a historical moment for MRSM as this is a major step in our partnership with academia. We commend APU for taking professional standards in the marketing and marketing research courses seriously,” she said.

MRSM will also include necessary course content into existing APU courses in order to reflect the joint priorities of academia and industry.

The varsity said students who have completed and passed relevant modules will also be eligible for MRSM membership.
