WITH a presence across three continents – Asia, Africa and Europe – and now engaging with a fourth, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology will further strengthen its position as a global campus with an educational partnership with Latin American embassies to Malaysia.

The partnership, called the Malaysian Latin American Council for Creativity and Innovation, is a non-profit organisation set up for the advancement of intercultural collaboration promoting arts, education and talent development.

The council, through the synergy of education and culture, aims to bring young people from different countries together to experience and promote intercultural understanding through an active participation in education, music and the arts.

It is a means to organise events and projects which will embody its mission to develop creativity and leadership among its participants.

Such events will include international cultural events, music and film festival, art exhibitions and student excha-nge programmes among participating countries.

To kickstart the partnership, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology founder and president Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing initiated a meeting that was graced by representatives from nine Latin American embassies – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and Mexico.

“Latin America is known for its arts and crafts culture. We want to use our position to stimulate growth in areas of human capital and education and to promote cross-activity between Malaysia and these countries,” said Limkokwing University of Creative Techno-logy brand, creativity and talent development-vice president Datuk Tiffanee Marie Lim.

She added that the university already had a number of Latin American students.

The new partnership aims to bring young people from different countries together.

“Through this partnership, Malaysia will be better known in South America.

“It will also open up more opportunities for Malaysians in that continent,” added Lim.
