A powerful agreement

A MEMORANDUM of understanding (MoU) was signed between Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy (HGNE) and UNITEN recently.

The main objective of the MoU is to promote cooperation and maintain an ongoing relationship between both parties in human resource development and education programme in the field of nuclear power.

The scope of cooperation includes establishing a Nuclear Power Engineering programme, donated by HGNE.

HGNE and UNITEN will implement study tours, exchange for lecturers and internships at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) or HGNE’s facility in Japan.

In the meantime, a Letter of Cooperation (LoC) was also signed between Tokyo Tech and UNITEN. This LoC is intended to enhance the exchange of knowledge and experience, especially in the field of nuclear power.

The delegates from Japan included International Nuclear Research Corporation Centre, Research Laboratory for Nuclear Reactors Tokyo Tech director Prof Dr Masayuki Igashira, and Hitachi Ltd. Power Systems Company senior corporate officer Akira Maru.

UNITEN was represented by College of Engineering dean Prof Dr Mohd. Zamri Yusoff and College of Engineering Assoc Prof Dr Nasri A Hamid.
