Farewell and hello

Here you go: (left) Prof Sharifah Hapsah symbolically 'hands over' her duties to the varsity's vice-chancellor (right) Prof Noor Azlan while Dr Mohamad Zawawi looks on.

CLASPING the necklace (which was a present from her staff) around her neck, Prof Tan Sri Dr Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hasan Shahabudin received hugs and tokens of appreciation from her ex-colleagues when she stepped down from her position as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s (UKM) vice-chancellor.

Faculty members were gathered at the foyer of the UKM chancellery building to bid her farewell and bear witness to the appointment of her new successor, Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali, who officially began his position from Jan 1.
