YOU can tell from the title (inspired by My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean lyrics) that I hail from “The good ole days” (StarEducate, May 26) and happily, from the “golden age of English”.
Sadly though, like Margaret Kaloo (past president of the Association of International Malaysian Schools) and other concerned educators, I have long been in mourning — both silently and loudly (giving it voice in conferences and the mainstream media) — over the near-demise of English in our beloved country.
