Testing language skills for 20 years

THE English language test familiar to many college students – the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year.

Since the test was first introduced in 1989, the number of candidates sitting for it have risen to over one million per year, and it has been accepted by over 6,000 organisations worldwide.
