Timely initiative

THE Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology (AIMST) University has come forward with an initiative to aid the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science in scores of secondary schools.

With a sponsorship pledge of RM10,000, the higher learning institute ensures that a total of 20 schools — three from Perlis, 11 from Kedah, and six from Penang – will receive 12,500 copies of F4F5 pullouts between February and October.

F4F5, The Star’s Maths and Science guide for Forms Four and Five, offers teachers and students an avenue to enhance classroom teaching and independent study.

“It is indeed commendable that The Star, by having the F4F5 pullout, acknowledges the importance of assisting students in improving their knowledge and understanding of Mathematics and Science,” said AIMST deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs) Prof Dr Harcharan S. Sidhu.

“Students, especially those from rural schools, can benefit much from the pullout. We hope, through our support, more students can reap rewards from F4F5,” he added, before presenting a mock cheque to Star Publications (M) Bhd regional manager/operations (North) Chung Chok Yin at AIMST’s campus in Kedah.

F4F5 contains a 40-page syllabus-based Maths and Science content, which includes learning tips, enrichment exercises, English-Malay translations of common scientific terms, as well as insightful topics for General Knowledge, written by Maths and Science specialists and teachers.

Published twice a month, F4F5 offers Physics, Biology and Modern Maths on the second Monday of the month, and Chemistry, General Science and Additional Maths on the fourth Monday.

For school subscriptions of F4F5 or details on how companies can sponsor the pullout, call Star Publications (Malaysia) Bhd’s Customer Care Unit at 03-7967 1777 (direct line) or 03-7967 1388, ext 1152 or 1160, between 9am and 5.30pm, Mondays to Fridays.
