Singling them out to help


Concerned that 20,000 Year Six pupils have yet to master basic literacy skills, the Education Ministry has put into place a programme to help them become more fully equipped for Form One. KAREN CHAPMAN visits a school to find out more. 

TWELVE-year-old Omar Kamal used to struggle in class, hesitating when he had to read difficult words or sentences. He would stutter and pepper his sentences with “ah...ah”.
