THE University of Adelaide (UoA) in Australia recently signed an agreement with INTI College (INTI) to offer a 2+1 commerce programme.

The agreement, upgraded from an existing 1½ + 1½ arrangement, makes INTI the Australian university’s preferred twinning partner in Malaysia for its Bachelor of Commerce programme.

Under the agreement, INTI will deliver the first two years of UoA’s curriculum in Malaysia. Students can choose to specialise in accounting, corporate finance, marketing, management or international business.

UoA’s vice-chancellor Prof James McWha said that INTI College’s students will be subject to the same entry requirements, curriculum and assessment as those pursuing the commerce degree in Adelaide. The quality of teaching will also be monitored by UoA to ensure that standards are maintained.

The new commerce programme will be launched in July.

Besides commerce, INTI also has twinning arrangements with UoA to offer degrees in fields as diverse as engineering, biotechnology, molecular biology, biomedical science, mechatronics and psychology.

More than one-third of INTI’s transfer students recently obtained first class honours in engineering.

Students pursuing programmes at INTI may also apply for achievement, merit and sports/special talent scholarships.

Merit scholarships, approved immediately to reward applicants who score 6As and above in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia or O-Levels examinations, are awarded in the form of 20% to 100% tuition fee waivers.

Eligible students who transfer to universities abroad can also qualify for scholarships awarded by INTI’s collaborative partner universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
