BY AMIRA NAJUA SA’ABANA

THE fasting month and hot weather proved to be no deterrent to Kolej Yayasan Saad students who decided to do something meaningful with their time by bringing cheer to the sick and the lonely at the Malacca General Hospital recently.

Forty-two students visited the children at the paediatric ward at the hospital, armed with goody bags and bright smiles. They also brought toys and books so that sick children who had to be warded could read and keep themselves busy in the playroom. The students had worked hard to raise the funds needed to buy the gifts by organising various fund-raising activities in school over the past few months.

A storytelling session was held. Patients as young as two years old gathered round to listen to a folktale told by bubbly student Nor Emilia Ilyana. The highlight of the afternoon was when Amira Najua and Law Wen Jan performed magic tricks for the children. The “show” left the children in awe.

The visit was an enjoyable and fun experience, both for the students and the children.
