Public lecture on tribology INTI Foundation, in collaboration with the National Science Centre and Malaysian Science Academy, will be organising a public lecture entitled Tribology – Motoring into the 21st Century by President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Bradford, UK, Professor Christopher Taylor. The talk will be held on Aug 18 at 2.30pm at the National Science Centre Auditorium, Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. University placement day 

A UNIVERSITY Placement Day will be held at Taylor's College on Aug 21, from 10am to 4pm. School leavers and parents are invited to meet with faculty members and discuss issues pertaining to various fields of study. There will be talks on careers in pharmacy, medicine, health and biomedical sciences, engineering, biotechnology, and business and communication.

Degree programme in construction management 

UNIVERSITI Tunku Abdul Rahman's (UTAR) pioneer Bachelor of Science (Hons) Construction Management programme will commence on Aug 23 at its Setapak campus. Application forms can be obtained from UTAR campuses or downloaded from the UTAR website at www.utar.edu.my 

For more information, students are invited to a course preview today at the UTAR Setapak campus (beside TAR College), Jalan Genting Klang, 53300 Kuala Lumpur, from 11am to 12.30pm.  

Business English workshop 

A ONE-day Business English workshop will be organised by KBU International College's English department and school of business on Aug 21, from 9am to 5pm. The fee is RM150 per person. The workshop is open to employees in the corporate or private sectors.

SPM seminar 

PANICKING about exams? A Final Tips Seminar for SPM, for both Arts and Science streams, is being conducted today in Dewan Kuliah A & B, Pusat Asasi Sains, Universiti Malaya, from 9am to 5pm. Subjects offered for the science stream are Bahasa Melayu, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Additional Mathematics, and subjects offered for the arts stream are Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, Science, History, Commerce and Economics.

Holiday camp for children 

IN conjunction with the August holidays, Edutree Services will be organising a three days and two nights camp on ecology for children between the ages of seven and 10 from Aug 21 to 23. The camp will be held at the Sungkai Wildlife Reserve in Perak.

Family fun day 

A FAMILY fun day organised by QIDS Integrated School will be held at SRK Taman Tun Dr Ismail (2) today from 9.30am to 1pm. The family fun day, open to members of the public, will allow parents to mingle with teachers and pupils of this private agama school which offers an integrated religious and national curriculum for children aged five and above.  

Activities include hair braiding, blind foot massage, balloon sculptures, games, a food fair and mega sale.
