VALERIE Mashman's session How To Tell a Joke and Be Funny had participants literally begging for more! The activity-filled session which introduced novel ways of teaching students the importance of intonation, rhythm, and pauses in speech was an instant hit with teachers, many of whom did not mind standing up for the entire hour for lack of space.
Each time Mashman attempted to stop an activity and move on to another, cries of “One more... just one more activity,” or “Aww... not so fast,” were heard from the participants who seemed very much like students themselves.
