Often, an experienced teacher can tell if her student is being plain lazy or genuinely has a learning disability. However, instead of relying completely on gut feeling, she can now turn to an “instrument” which will indicate if she's on the right track.
To be more precise, the instrument, which is a diagnostic checklist, will help identify if a child is dyslexic – someone who has a learning difficulty, especially with reading, writing and spelling. The child may be bright and normal in every way but lags behind her peers when it comes to those skills.
