Science carnival

THE Government has set a ratio of 60:40 science to arts students at public universities. However, this ratio has never been met so far. Part of the problem is that there are not enough students in the science stream at the secondary level.

To encourage more students to think about science-based careers and expose them to job opportunities, the Education Ministry introduced the Carnival on Education and Careers in Science and Technology in 2001. The annual carnival is held every year at the state level. Earlier this month, the Federal Territory (FT) Education Department organised its carnival at SMK Wangsa Melawati over a three-day period.
