IT started with turtles in 1999. In 2001, the pupils of SK Bukit Damansara (SKBD) in Kuala Lumpur adopted an elephant named Mawar, followed by rhinoceroses last year and wildcats this year.
In other words, the school is helping to sponsor the upkeep of these animals at their respective sanctuaries.
