Acting on open burning

With reference to the letter “A smouldering problem” in the StarMetro, the Environment Department (DOE) would like to clarify issues highlighted by Suresh Chandra regarding incidents of open burning and peat soil fires in Jalan Kebun and Johan Setia, Klang.

We would like to reiterate that all efforts have been taken to address the problem of open burning in the Johan Setia area, such as daily ground surveillance which is conducted in Jalan Kebun and Johan Setia to detect open burning, and taking appropriate enforcement actions against those found to commit the offence.
