Tribute to father of Malay literature

JALAN Munshi Abdullah, or at least half of it, is among the newest of roads in the ancient city. It is named after the man who paved the way for modern Malay writers.

Abdullah bin Abdul Kadir was born in 1797 in Kampung Pali, now known as Kampung Ketek, just across the road from the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple in Jalan Tokong.
