MALACCA: The joy of Hari Raya for 50 underprivileged school children from Sekolah Kebangsaan Pantai Kundur was indeed a dream come true when Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) came a calling to spread the cheer.
The selected teenagers were treated to a shopping spree where each kid was given a voucher worth RM150 to purchase new clothes and essential household consumables.
The spirit of caring and sharing during Ramadan brought by TPM was presented to the underprivileged kids by the Science, Technology and Innovation Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah.
Also present was TPM president and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Azman Shahidin and his team to help the children choose their new Hari Raya clothing.
During theevent, each of child was also given a badge featuring a career choice they could make in the field of science, technology and innovation.
TPM said this was an early measure of cultivating students’ interest in a career in those fields.
“This initiative by TPM is a part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) in giving back to society during the festive season,” said Mohd Azman.
“We are indeed very touched to witness the happiness and delightful smiles of the kids who have been deprived of such simple things during the festive season.
“This initiative serves as a reminder to us always to practice compassion and be mindful of our gratitude for all the blessings,” he added.
Mohd Azman added that TPM’s CSR also included initiatives that were related to science, technology and innovation at grassroots level.
“We fully appreciate the need to give back to society and one of the best ways of doing so is to perform our obligations by spreading and sharing the festive joys with the underprivileged, especially children and single mothers,” he said.
