THOUSANDS of motorists were caught in a massive traffic jam at the Penang Bridge after a metal plate covering the expansion joint came off.
It was a bumper-to-bumper crawl on the island-bound route as workers could be seen carrying out remedial work in the middle of the bridge’s three-lane road between point 6.5km and 6.7km.
