THE Penang Thaipusam festival is famed for its silver chariot procession but unknown to many, there is another procession which will be held for the ninth year.
Called the Lord Murugan’s Vel (lance) procession, it will start from the Maha Mariamman Temple in Queen Street at 3am on Thaipusam Day tomorrow and head to the Arulmigu Balathan-dayuthapani hilltop temple in Jalan Kebun Bunga.
