PENANG Association of Counselling and Psychology (PACP) will hold a free workshop ‘Managing Stress in Self and Others’ this Saturday to help the people tackle stress problems.
PACP president A.E. Margarita Malayapillay said those with stress could end up committing suicide if they kept everything to themselves.
“If we can learn to manage and teach others about stress management, we can help solve mental health issues as well.
“It’s very important to know how to help ourselves and also others,” she said in a press conference at Disted College in Jalan Macalister recently.
She said some people dared not express their stress and problems due to the stigma and sense of prejudice from the public.
Speaker and trained counsellor Lynn Leahy who was also present at the press conference said massive stress for years could lead to heart attack.
“Stress is faced by everyone, everywhere but generally there’s more pressure in academic here in Asia,” she said.
The one-day workshop will be held this Saturday at Disted College from 9am to 1pm.
