Unhappy over balloting system


New location: Traders at Brickfields’ Deepavali Bazaar that was relocated to Chan Ah Tong field.

FOR seven long years, Jalan Tun Sambanthan in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur has been the hotspot for traders to enjoy brisk business during the Deepavali festive season.

However, the scene dramatically changed when Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) implemented the balloting system for traders in September, in efforts to ensure transparency and resolve allegations of middlemen raking in thousands of ringgit by sub-letting lots to third parties.
