Dine in style: Santa Claus is set to make an appearance during the Christmas buffets, and indulge in the delectable offerings himself.

RELISH dainty treasures in the lush embrace of tropical paradise, and while away pleasurable, tradition-tinged afternoons with Spice Market Cafe’s new English Tea and Scones promotion starting tomorrow.

Guests can expect to hear birds chirping a charming melody as they sip on premium brews and snack on the freshly baked treats under the shade of a 225-year-old rain tree at the alfresco section of Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa’s acclaimed restaurant in Penang.

The newly introduced menu will be available daily between 2.30pm and 5.30pm and is perfect for leisurely, festive meet-ups this Christmas and New Year.

The sets are priced at RM28++ and RM35++. They comprise a pot of tea and any two scones — take your pick from vanilla, vanilla with raisins, walnut or Parmesan cheese variants.

Depending on which set you choose, there are different accompaniments like jam, butter, cream cheese or blueberry cream cheese, and clotted cream, all equally great when lathered on the light and chewy pastries.

Guests seeking a more filling mid-afternoon snack can also order the English High-Tea, a three-tiered tray of sandwiches, cakes and tarts, for an additional RM30++.

“Our sprawling gardens make the perfect setting for guests to indulge in this time- honoured English pastime.

“What better way to unwind in the afternoons than to enjoy delicious scones and tea surrounded by nature, amidst the rustle of leaves and within earshot of rumbling waves?” asked the resort’s communications director Suleiman Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The promotion will be launched with a ‘Tea, Scones and Gemstones’ showcase at 2.30pm tomorrow, featuring the latest jewellery collection by Amee Philips, and the Rasa Sayang 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Charm Bracelet.

The charms, specially crafted to celebrate the resort’s historic milestone next November, will come in four dif-ferent design motifs — rain tree, turtle, the anniversary logo and Minangkabau roof.

There are only 200 pieces of each and guests who spend RM400 and above per receipt at the Spice Market Cafe, will be entitled to one charm, whilst stocks last.

“Those who manage to collect all four charms can visit Amee Philips outlet in Kelawei Road and have them attached to a bracelet for free.

“That bracelet entitles guests to special discounts at all Rasa Sayang’s restaurants and bars, including CHI, The Spa, Rasa Deli and the Gift Shop,” Suleiman explained, adding that for men, there are key chains instead.

Delectable macaroons, cakes, muffins, sandwiches and pastries are also available for take-away at the Rasa Deli located at the Garden Wing.

The Spice Market Cafe has long been renowned for its lavish buffets, and the epicurean feasts set to be dished up this festive season promise to take guests away on a fuzzy, gastronomic adven- ture together with those nearest and dearest.

Among them will be the Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner on Dec 24, Christmas Day Brunch, Christmas Dinner Specialities Buffet Dinner, Boxing Day Brunch and Seafood Buffet Dinner on Dec 26.

End the year with a bang at the Fes-tive Buffet Dinner on Dec 31, and welcome 2013 with sumptuous pleasures in the New Year’s Day Brunch and Buffet Dinner, and set the stage for a happy year ahead.

All brunch and dinner buffets begin at 11.45am and 6.30pm respectively. For reservations, call 04-8888788.
