A STANDING ovation was given to young talents for their superb music, dance and arts performances at the launch of the In-between Arts Festival (IbAF) in Gurney Paragon, Penang.
The three-day event started with a preview of some local and foreign talents including portrait drawing by cartoon artist Peach Somchai.
Somchai, who is from Bangkok, was given a rapturous reception as he drew portraits of two individuals within six minutes with his deft fingers.
Soul songstress Penangite Bihzhu, Sabahan writer-poet-musician Jerome Kugan and indie singer Dzamira Dzafri from Cyberjaya later took to the stage to entertain the audience.
Dance group Viva Circus made their appearance to showcase their pole dancing skills.
Their strength and flexibility drew gasps of amazement from the crowd.
IbAF director Jasmine Low introduced a quirky dress made from recyclable materials by fashion stylist Jo Teh.
“Six costumes will be shown to the public during the festival’s Fashion Invasion!” she said.
Also present were Penang Global Tourism managing director Ooi Geok Ling and Hunza Properties Bhd group managing director Datuk Daisy Ooi.
The in-betweener finale show will be held at Gurney Paragon today at 8pm.
Most of the festival events are free except for the workshops and finale show.
