Two months jail for bouncer


GEORGE TOWN: A bouncer, who is charged with the murder of a 60-year-old widow, has been sentenced to two months’ jail for a separate charge of drug consumption.

Ooi Kean Leong, 35, pleaded guilty at a magistrate’s court here to consuming metamphetamine, for which he tested positive when he was arrested on Aug 8.

The offence under Section 15(1)(A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a maximum jail sentence of two years, or a maximum fine of RM5,000.

Magistrate Norhayati Ibrahim ordered the jail term to run from his date of arrest.

Ooi, who was unrepresented, is also charged with murdering Tan Kim Chuan at a motorcycle parking lot at the Rifle Range flats in Jalan Padang Tembak here at around 6am on July 10. The case will be mentioned on Nov 30.
