RM10,000 cash prize

IN conjunction with Homedec’s 10th anniversary, the organiser will be giving away RM10,000 cash each day to shoppers during the three-day exhibition from Oct 5 at the Penang International Sports Arena (PISA).

CIS Network Sdn Bhd president Vincent Lim said Homedec was first organised in 2003 in Kuala Lumpur before spreading its wings to Penang in 2008.

“The latest exhibition will be the second held in Penang this year, and the fifth since 2008.

“Shoppers only need to spend RM100 in a single receipt to stand a chance to win RM10,000,” he told a press conference yesterday.

Lim said over 400 booths by 160 exhibitors will occupy PISA’s two levels (the concourse and the arena) to showcase the latest designs and trends for home renovation needs.

“I have seen a drastic change in the taste of home owners since Homedec was first organised in 2003. They have become more demanding and sophisticated, and they know what they want.

“Every year, we strive to showcase different concepts to provide our visitors with a new experience.

“We encourage home owners to visit the exhibition a year or two before they renovate their home so they get an idea of what they want,” he said.

Lim added that 70% of the homeowners were willing to appoint interior designers for their home projects.

“We are expecting to achieve between RM17mil to RM18mil in sales during the three-day exhibition.

“Renovation, refurbishment and interior design are a billion ringgit industry. On the average, home owners spend between 30% and 50% of their property value for renovation,” he said.

Also present at the press conference were state Domestic Trade, Consumer Affairs and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Malik Abul Kassim, Eco Meridian Sdn Bhd convention centre, property division (north) senior manager Yeoh Kheng Ho and CIS Network Sdn Bhd events director Janice Gan.

Entrance to the event (11am to 9pm) is free.

Visitors can park their vehicle at PISA, D’Piazza or its vicinity and take a shuttle service to PISA. They can also park at the PDC compound on Oct 6 and Oct 7.

As the PISA’s main entrance is now undergoing redevelopment works, visitors should use the back entrance via Persiaran Mahsuri (facing Penang Development Corpora-tion (PDC)) to enter PISA.
