American footwear manufacturer New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc, has a long-standing history of over a century, but who would have thought that its shoes were originally inspired by chicken feet?
William J. Riley, who started the brand that was called New Balance Arch Support Company back in 1906, came up with the idea for shoes by observing chickens in his yard. He deemed that a three-clawed foot was an example of perfect balance.
