KUCHING: It is better for the Bidayuhs to “fight” the Government from within than from outside, says Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Dr James Dawos Mamit.
He said from within, many things could be resolved and achieved for the benefit of the community.
“Within Barisan Nasional, the leaders don’t fight to achieve something.
“They do things through negotiations and discussions,” he said at Kampung Punau in Penrissen near here on Friday.
Dawos, who is Mambong MP, said fighting the Government from outside or through the Opposition would not guarantee them anything. He said only through their elected representatives in Barisan would the community be able to get what they wanted.
“We in Barisan can make things happen not through fighting, but through discussion. Look at what the people have got in Mambong.
“I ask for money from the Government to help my people. The Government gave and the people in my area are enjoying good roads and electricity,” he said.
Dawos said the good roads had improved the economy of the people, who can either work from home or make a living from agriculture and tourism-related activities.
