The box office takings of locally produced movies can never be underestimated with movie-going culture on the rise. It is expected to grow by about 40% this year from RM124.85mil in 2011, as more local Chinese and Malay movies are being planned for production in the second half of this year.
Asia Tropical Films Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Adrian Teh Kean Kok said in an interview that there would be an increase in the number of local Chinese movies to be released this year.
