IN keeping up with their motto ‘Service Above Self’, the SMK Seafield Interact Club members spent a recent Friday morning offering their services to PAWS Animal Welfare Society.

Club president Chua May Yean said the project was one of their major community service projects this year.

“We feel that giving is better than receiving, so we decide to celebrate it with a cause.

“The other board members also agreed we should volunteer at the shelter to make it a meaningful Christmas.

“Cases of animal abuse continue to increase and we feel the need to stand up for the animals and show society that animals do need tender loving care just as much as humans do,” said Chua.

Club members who participated in the project helped to bathe and walk the dogs while some groomed the cats.

Besides volunteering, the club also had a charity sale recently in Subang Parade to raise funds for the project, raising a total of RM1,400 for animal food, food bowls and detergent products for the shelter.
