Foreign students learn to cook traditional dish

ABOUT 20 foreign students of a college in Penang joined some 270 local students in preparing ‘bubur lambuk’ for distribution for Muslims during the breaking of fast.

It was the first time that the students from Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka and Thailand were involved in preparing the meal.

The students from the Advanced Tourism International College (ATIC) on Jalan Burmah took about two hours to prepare the porridge with help from ATIC Culinary School chefs.

ATIC principal Vijay said the event was held to foster ties between foreign and local students as well as expose the foreign students to Malay culture during Hari Raya.

He said the bubur lambuk was distributed to some 400 members of the public as well as custo-mers of Mydin Wholesale Emporium.
