DURING my time as a University student in Australia, I also competed as a rower. To achieve big boat glory, my crew and I had to meet huge training demands — training twice, sometimes thrice, a day. Why did I do it? Well let’s just say I once dreamt of being an Olympian.
Many of my teammates aspired to row for Australia, and a good number of them ended up devastated when they failed to make the Australian Rowing team for the World Championships and Olympic games.
