I WAS recently privileged to be involved in a fundraising event in Penang to help my compatriots who are suffering from the triple disasters of March 11.
In addition to the overwhelming response to the appeal in the form of donations and offers of help, many Malaysians, not only Penangites, personally expressed that they were inspired to help because they saw how the Japanese people responded to the disaster — with dignity, resilience, common courtesy and self-sacrifice.
