Motorcyclists continue to use half-shell helmets despite ban

DESPITE a ban since 2008, there are a large number of motorcyclists and pillion riders who are still using the half-shell or “tortoise” helmets.

Even various programmes and campaigns launched since 2006 on the importance of wearing helmets has not achieved the desired results but Road Safety Department (RSD) director-general Datuk Suret Singh is still hopeful.
