Boreal forest

THE Malaysian Nature Society will be holding a talk on the boreal forest of Canada on Feb 20 at 2pm at the MNS Auditorium, Jalan Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur. Jim Stone will present a slide show on a five week - 900 km - canoe trip he made through a small part of the boreal forest of Canada. As part of his talk he will share his knowledge of the ecology of the boreal forest, how it differs from tropical forests found in Malaysia and how it faces similar challenges as forests in Malaysia. He will also show some of the equipment used for the expedition in northern Canada. Stone works at the High Commission of Canada and has made numerous expeditions by canoe in northern Canada.
