Calling creative writers

ALL creative writers are invited to submit their work and stand a chance to be read on stage by Gavin Yap, Anne James, Sukania Venugopal, Edwin Sumun, Naa Murad, Joanna Bessey, Jo Kukathas and more from Instant Café Theatre. The manuscripts have to be 1,500 words and the best work as voted by the audience and panel of judges will be mentored by Spread the Word (UK) who will help winners devise a route forward in creative writing through their Professional Development Planning Programme. The deadline for submission is Sunday. The public is also invited to join the presentation of the works on Jan 22 at PJ Live Arts at Jaya One. Admission is free. Medical conference

ASIAN Medical Students Association (AMSA) Malaysia is organising its 23rd East Asian Medical Students Conference (EAMSC) 2010 Kuala Lumpur with the theme of Men’s Health: Defining the Past, Refining the Future, from Jan 14 to 19 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC). More than 300 medical students from 18 countries are expected to attend the event. The conference will be launched by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. Talk on autism and dyslexia

Oneheart Malaysia is organising a series of talks on Autism and Dyslexia. Among the topics are early detection/intervention and development of children with these challenges. The talk on Autism will be conducted at 2.30pm on Jan 24 and a session on dyslexia will be held at the same time on Feb 7. Art exhibition

The Art Village is holding a group art exhibition entitled Joy. Vision. Hope. featuring work by a group of local artists from Jan 23 to Feb 28 at the gallery in Bangsar South, G2, Bangsar South, No.2, Jalan 1/112H, off Jalan Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur. The artists are Azman Hilmi, Dennis Chan, Ng Foo Cheong, Mia Farizza, Chan Tat Wai, Khoo Khay Tat, Cheong Mei Fong, Kim Ng, Wendy Chua and Adnan Othman. Forum on anxiety disorder
