A FINANCE executive screamed with joy on Friday night upon learning that she had won the grand prize worth RM8,999 in the SPOT The Difference & WIN contest, which was jointly organised by Blissful Bridal Studio and The Star.

Ooi Phai Wan, 27, was the lucky candidate among 300 entries in the contest to be shortlisted and invited to attend the final draw held at the bridal studio on Jalan Bagan Jermal where she won the weddding package and also RM300.

Ooi, who only submitted her form a day before the closing date, was hoping to win a prize as a Christmas gift.

“It was totally unexpected. I hope to surprise my partner with this great news this Christmas when he returns from Sin-gapore,” she said.

She hoped her friends and relatives would cooperate and keep this great news away from her fiance after reading this story. They will be tying the knot on Nov 28 next year.

The contest ended with a final draw of prizes worth over RM30,000 for Contest 3 with 50 contestants drawing their own prizes.

Second prize winner Dharshini Looi, 29, who won a RM5,999 wedding package and RM200 in the last round, was jumping for joy when her partner Veeramani, 34, read out their prize.

Veeramani proposed to Looi in early September in a romantic atmosphere.

“We were having dinner in a bistro when he suddenly kneeled down and proposed to me in front of 100 people,” a blushing Looi said.

The couple plan to spend their honeymoon in Switzerland after their wedding ceremony this coming March 13.

The Star’s circulation manager (north) Oun Sui Leng was invited to present the prizes to the winners. Guests were also given a chance to tour the studio and look at the exclusive D&L bridal gown collections.

Adding to the joy were Norrafida Ahmad Khalid, 22, and Abdul Rashid Mohammed, 24, who walked away with the 3rd prize which was a RM3999 wedding package and RM100.

“We are so happy. We can’t wait to share this wonderful news with our family members,” said Norrafida.

The couple, who got engaged last year, planned to have a two-day wedding ceremony in March next year.

“We plan to use the money that we’ve saved for our wedding ceremony and honeymoon in Phuket,” Abdul said.

Seven consolation prizes of wedding voucher worth RM1000 were also being drawn on the night.
