Artseni Gallery and Montecatini Chilean Art Gallery in collaboration with Embassy of Chile in Malaysia present Contemporary Chilean Artists’ Art Exhibition 2009. In preparation for the Haj month, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia will present an exhibition called En Route to Mecca: Pilgrims’ Voices Throughout the Centuries. It focuses on the sense of anticipation and adventure that the faithful have always encountered on their way to fulfilling this Pillar of Islam. Reflections of this journey can be seen in pilgrims’ thoughts and actions as well as in works of arts. The exhibition ends Jan 22. The Annexe Gallery presents 1 X Suitcase, a travelling art exhibition from Singapore which features works by 12 artists from Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Each artist’s work is presented as an installation of drawings and other media that “reveal the cause to journey, record one’s involvement, memories of events, fragmented recollections of movements and hopes”. It tells stories of transit, of travelogues, intimate stories, dreams and flavours. The exhibition will be on until Nov 15. Admission is free. Blood donation drive
The Petaling Jaya Lions Club will be organising a blood donation drive to assist the National Blood Bank in collecting more blood supply for patients in need. It will be held tomorrow from 9am to 5.30pm at 1st Floor of Tropicana City Mall in Petaling Jaya. The requirements to donate blood are: aged 18 and above, mininum weight of 45kg, had mininum five hours of sleep the night before and did not consume any form of alcohol.
