Mattel kicked off its partnership with Starbucks at Berjaya Times Square with the first in a series of fun Scrabble Challenges called the Scrabble Challenge @ Starbucks.

The first prize winner for the first Scrabble Challenge @ Starbucks was teacher Intan Rahayu who beat her opponents by a large margin.

“Scrabble is a family game that we play regularly and my father used to encourage this. I still practice my strategy with my Dad whenever I go back to my hometown,” she said.

The second and third prize winners were Tan Waye and Lee Bee Chu, respectively.

The challenge will continue every fortnight at various selected Starbucks stores within the Klang Valley and is open to all Starbucks patrons and members of the public.

Each challenge is limited to 40 players only.

There are great prizes to be won courtesy of Mattel and Starbucks.

The Challenge @ Starbucks will be held next at Starbucks stores on Nov 1 at Centrepoint, Bandar Utama (11am), Nov 15 at Bangsar Telawi 3 (4pm) and Nov 22 at Tropicana City Mall (4pm).

“We chose Starbucks as our preferred partner as it is an ideal place to play board games,” Mattel brand manager Kenny Lim said.

“Come join us for a relaxing Sunday at Starbucks and learn about the interesting aspects of Scrabble in a friendly and stress-free environment.

“We look forward to seeing Scrabble aficionados testing their skills against each other,” Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company Sdn Bhd marketing and communications director Sydney Quays said.

The Scrabble Challenge @ Starbucks is a preamble to the World Scrabble Championship which will be held in Malaysia in November this year at the Zon Regency, Johor Baru from Nov 26 to 29.
