Festive joy for patients

BANK Rakyat brought some early Hari Raya joy to the Penang Hospital paediatric patients when they distributed hampers and cash to them.

Among the 65 recipients was Mohd Hafis Ali, 11, who broke his arm when he fell while walking home after teraweh prayers at the mosque.

His mother Fazilah Razak said: “I really appreciate the gesture as it means a little more joy for us this Hari Raya.”

She said her Hari Raya wish was for Mohd Hafis to be discharged in time to celebrate the festival at home.

Bank Rakyat George Town branch manager Muhammad Rosdi Abdullah said the bank was “very happy” to do its bit for the community.

Their visit to the hospital on Friday was part of a nationwide corporate social responsibility programme held in conjunction with the bank’s 55th anniversary.

The bank gave out RM104,900 worth of hampers and cash to 1,007 children warded in 10 hospitals all over the country for Hari Raya.
